The Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) is a highly successful industry-led education initiative. Over the past two decades the QMEA, as the education arm of the Queensland Resources Council (QRC), has played a pivotal role in inspiring and preparing over 65,000 Queensland students to pursue careers in the resources and energy sectors.

The QMEA provides hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and trade workshops with the support of industry partners. These learning opportunities open students to the possibility of potential careers in the resources industry through university study and apprenticeship pathways into the resources industry.

The Department of Trade, Employment and Training funds this Gateway to Industry Schools Program (GISP) initiative.
