Girls in Resources Leadership Skills (GIRLS) Mentoring Program 2027
In 2027, the Girls in Resources Leadership Skills (GIRLS) Mentoring Program will enter its 9th year of successfully engaging Year 12 female students with the resources sector. This unique six-month program is fully funded and matches students with an industry mentor to provide guidance, advice and confidence as they pursue their career goals in the sector.
Designed for students interested in both professional and trade pathways, the program provides a valuable opportunity to expand skills, industry knowledge and professional networks.
Building on the Success of 2026
Following the successful introduction of the AI micro-credential in 2026, participants in 2027 will once again complete a micro-credential on Artificial Intelligence delivered by the Australian Institute of Management (AIM).
This additional qualification will provide students with a practical foundation in AI and explore how emerging technologies are being applied across the resources sector. Students will gain insights into how AI can support their future studies and careers in STEM and trade-related roles.
Key program details
- Open to female students from QMEA schools completing Year 12 in 2027.
- Each student is matched with an industry mentor working in a field of interest to them.
- Travel to Brisbane for training, to meet their mentor and network with fellow students participating in the program.
- Travel, accommodation, meals and program fees are included for all successful participants.
