Whitehaven University Scholarships
The QMEA is partnering with Whitehaven to offer two university scholarships.
Each scholarship is valued at $10,000 and will support an eligible current or former student from a QMEA partner school in the Isaac or Central Highlands local government areas commencing university study in 2027.
The scholarships recognise students who have demonstrated leadership, community spirit and a strong commitment to pursuing a mining-related engineering pathway.
Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- Be a current or former student of a QMEA partner school located within
the Isaac or Central Highlands local government areas. - Have completed Year 12 in 2025 and taken a gap year, or be completing Year 12 in 2026.
- Be an Australian resident or citizen.
- Intend to commence study at a recognised Queensland university in 2027.
- Be enrolling in a course that provides a pathway into mining-related engineering.
- Demonstrate leadership, community spirit and commitment.
Eligible study areas
Applicants must be enrolling in a university course that provides a mining-related engineering pathway. This may include courses that allow students to select a second-year major in:
- Civil engineering
- Materials engineering
- Mechanical engineering
- Mechatronics engineering
- Mining engineering
- another relevant mining-related engineering pathway at a Queensland university.
Scholarship value
Two scholarships valued at $10,000 each are available.
Each scholarship will be paid in two instalments, subject to
confirmation of university enrolment.

Applications close: 15 February 2027
University study commences: 2027
