Budding young tradies at Bowen State High School will receive training and advice from the experts at a one-day Toolkit for Schoolkids event today.

The 15 students will be joined at the school’s trade centre by staff from Adani Australia who will instruct and mentor them through some hands-on projects.

Abbot Point Operations CEO, Dwayne Freeman said Adani Australia was proud to support the Queensland Mining and Energy Academy (QMEA) to encourage the next generation of tradespeople.

“We are facing a shortage of people with these valuable skills and this event has come at a time when students are selecting their subjects for senior school,” he said.

“Adani’s port operations are based near Bowen and we are proud to be giving back to the local community by helping young people reach their potential through this valuable program.”
